Hello blog readers and subscribers!
I told you in a recent blog update that I’ve been seeking to pastor an Anabaptist congregation since I joined the Mennonite USA back in June. I also told you that I was going to preach “in view of a call” over Labor Day Weekend. I’m happy that I can now share the good news with you.
I’m the new lead pastor of Christiansburg Mennonite Fellowship!
CMF is a Mennonite church in the New River Valley region of Virginia. The church is situated between two university towns (Radford & Blacksburg), surrounded by mountains, and filled with awesome people.
We are hoping to be able to move to Virginia next month, and so we would really appreciate your prayers as we work out all the details for a major transition. We can’t wait to make the big move and begin another chapter of life and ministry. We’re very excited about the road ahead.
Thank you for your prayers and support. From David, Lanna, and Kainan.
D.D. Flowers, 2013.

Awesome! I am sure it will be a big transition, but exciting, too. May God give you His heart for His people in the New River Valley area.

My family roots are in that part of Virginia. My brother is a Virginia Tech graduate and I’ve spent many a weekend in Blacksburg. It’s a wonderful place to live. Next time I’m up there on a Sunday I’ll be sure to visit CMF! Blessings!

I rejoice with you David. That is wonderful news. You will continue to be in my prayers as you seek to be faithful to Him who is able to do more than we can ask or think.

Amen!

Do you need a youth pastor? (I am turning 50 and I live in Africa, but why would that be a problem?) Jokes aside: If there is one thing I have experienced by following your blog, then it is that you have been wonderfully gifted and prepared for a teaching ministry. Writing is great, but it has “pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe”. Many blessings on this new venture, my brother.

Thanks, Tobie! I’ll let you know when they get to the point of needing a youth pastor. 🙂

Congrats! Blessings on you, your family, and your new congration. May God’s peace and joy reign in your lives. In challenging times may you recall the joy you felt in this call to serve him. Peace

Congratulations David! Although I’m (selfishly) a little sad that you won’t be pastoring here in Spring, I will continue to look forward to your shepherding through your blog. May the Lord continue to bless you, your family and all whom you shepherd in Virginia. Prayers for a safe move.

Thanks so much, Reina. It sure would be good to see a revolution among Christian churches in Texas. I pray it comes soon.

I grew up about an hour from here, right across the border in West Virginia. Most beautiful country in the US. Enjoy country life.
